Useful photography websites

This is a vault of the best and most useful photography websites I’ve found for creating a successful photography business. It’s easy to drown under the sheer volume of photography information so I’ve picked out the best stuff for you so you don’t have to waste hours trawling the internet like I do!

I’ve split the websites into related categories so you can focus on the areas you want to learn about. That said, I recommend that over time you give some attention to all these areas of your photography business.

I add new websites to this page all the time, so it’s worth popping back to see what’s new. Better yet, sign up to my blog and get all my latest blog posts and links to my favourite websites sent straight to your email.

Photoshop tutorials and plugins

Knowing how to enhance your photos using software will help separate you from the cheap photographers. Sprinkling some Photoshop pixie dust on your photos makes them look more distinctive, more vibrant, more creative and ultimately more professional in the eyes of the consumer. Even natural looking photos need sharpening, extra contrast, localised exposure adjustments and colour saturation. Even a few seconds on each photo can wow your customers. More involved and creative enhancements can transform your photos into spectacular works of art that help you demand higher prices (check out the galleries below under ‘Inspirational photographers’ to see what I mean).

Photography Tips

There are always new things to learn, whether it’s lighting and posing setups, compositional ideas or creative techniques – the beauty of photography is that you never know it all. Plus, the more you know the more confident you’ll feel any situation, particularly when talking about your prices and why your prospects should choose you.

Who created www.getprophoto.com?

Finally, I’d like to honour Andy Gilbert from www.routetoweb.co.uk who helped create this website for me. He took my concept and enhanced it into what it is now. He’s a lovely guy and a pleasure to work with. He worked tirelessly even when the shop function was playing up and taking over his life! Cheers Andy.
